VERNON TOWNSHIP BOARD MINUTES

MEETING HELD November 7, 2011

TOWNSHIP OF VERNON, COUNTY OF ISABELLA LOREN COLE, CLERK

 

A. The Regular Meeting of the Vernon Township Board was held on November 7, 2011 at 6:30 p.m.  Members present:   Loren Cole (Clerk), Stephanie Allen (Treasurer), Mike Turner (Trustee) and, Julie Cole (Deputy Clerk).  Members absent:  Jeff Bean (Supervisor) and Jack McConnell (Trustee).

B. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by L. Cole who led in the Pledge to the Flag.

C. M. Turner made the motion and S. Allen seconded to approve and accept the minutes from last meeting and to approve and accept the agenda for this meeting.    Motion carried.

D. Visitors present:   Gordon Gilchrist (resident) and Kelly Bean (resident).

E. Supervisor’s Report

  1. Roads:  Governor’s Transportation Message contained suggestion that he would like to see Counties have the right to not have or restructure road commissions.  Look for issue to come up in future legislative bills.
  2. Solid Waste:  Working on garbage contracting.
  3. Property Tax:  Assessor intends to resign after March BOR.

F. Clerk’ Report:

  1. Election Issues:  School elections for Clare Public Schools are tomorrow.  There are 2 board positions up for re-election and an 18 mil. Renewal proposal.  
  2. Fire:  The Clare Fire Dept. will soon be buying a new pick- up truck. 
  3. Budget:  See Budget vs. Actual in packets.  Next month the “Elections” section will need to be amended due to the Primary elections in February.

   3. Review and Pay Bills:

Motion made by M. Turner to pay bills as presented in the amount of $11,900.14. Motion seconded by L. Cole and motion passed.  See transaction list.  

 

H. Trustee’ Reports

  1. Jack McConnell- No Report.
  2. Mike Turner-Brought to the attention of the board, three major projects coming up in the next few years.

1. The 2 miles of Vernon Road

2. Meridian Bridge

3. Safety Rail on Whiteville Road.

                    The question was raised about applying for the 2% funding from the tribe.

K. Adjournment:  M. Turner made the motion to adjourn and it was seconded by S. Allen.  Motion carried.  This meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m. on November 7, 2011.
